Hot Waters Workshop on February 14th, 2007 |
Hot Waters Workshop
TBI hosted its first annual Hot Waters Workshop on February 14th,
2007 in the Foundation building at Montana State University. The workshop united
TBI scientists, community educators from the Museum of the Rockies, the Montana
Outdoor Science School and Project Wet, MSU personnel, and resource managers
and educators from Yellowstone National Park.
Seven TBI faculty members presented their recent research findings to the
group, and the topics discussed ranged from thermotolerant plants to mercury
accumulation in the food web to the future applications of the alkaline hydrolysis
that occurs naturally in Yellowstone thermal features. Guests at the workshop
were also treated to a tour of Montana State University’s mass spectrometry
equipment, and an overview of the outreach and education opportunities at TBI.
The workshop was well attended and well received, and a second workshop is
planned for the fall of 2007.
